Summer in Bremerhaven once again belongs to sailors, music fans and connoisseurs, as the Maritime Days are celebrated from August 16 to 20. Ships are the stars of the event in the heart of the city. The crews of sailing, steam and motor ships look forward to welcoming guests and invite them to the Open Ship. Not to be missed at the popular harbor festival is the "Alexander von Humboldt II", which calls Bremerhaven its home port. In addition to the ship "Grand Duchess Elisabeth", the "Nao Victoria", the "Galeo Andalucia", which looks like a pirate ship, the oldest still existing deep-sea cutter from 1889 "Landrath Küster", "Divers bremenports", the customs boat "Bremen", the barrel-launched "Nordergründe", the steam icebreaker "Wal" and many others are also in the mix.
The entertaining program for young and old offers a musical fireworks display on Saturday evening, Freibeuter Dorf with the world's smallest ferris wheel, cabaret and medieval market and the street food festival with delicacies from all over the world. On the wine deck, guests enjoy fine wines accompanied by piano music. And on the science mile, touching and trying things out is expressly encouraged. Kids & co. can enjoy themselves in the children's land. In addition to aqua paddlers, kids' quad racing, a play mobile and face painting, there is also a high ropes course to be climbed. Music from pop to soul can be heard on the Container and Radio Bremen stages. The NEUS festival with it's house, techno and electronic music will delight young festival lovers.
