What was once a working mill is now a popular destination in the centre of Bremen: The Beck's Mühle am Wall has a long history to tell.
A total of five windmills from the 17th and 18th centuries have been preserved in Bremen to this day. One of them is the mill in the Wallanlagen, also called "Mühle am wall", Bremen's old city fortifications, whose walls were ground down in 1802 and turned into a park. Although it burnt down completely twice in the 19th century, it was rebuilt again and again. Flour was ground here until 1947, and today the mill hosts a café.
As BECK'S MÜHLE, the mill welcomes Bremen residents and tourists. Here you can stop for a coffee and a bite to eat after a stroll through the city or a walk through the adjacent Wallanlagen and enjoy typical Bremen dishes such as Labskaus and Knipp.
The mill is also a popular photo spot: depending on the season, you can expect to see autumn-coloured trees or colourful flower meadows.
